Bahrain Family Visit Visa 2026: Requirements, Fees and How to Apply
The Bahrain family visit visa is an official NPRA visit eVisa for foreign nationals who have relatives in Bahrain. According to the Bahrain.bh Service Directory, it costs BD 39, takes 3-5 working days to process and is issued for one month, renewable. Applicants must show proof of kinship, a hotel reservation, a return ticket and a three-month English bank statement. This guide covers only the family visit route. For other entry categories, see our Bahrain visa guide.
What Is a Bahrain Family Visit Visa?
It is a temporary visit visa for foreign nationals who have relatives in Bahrain. It is not a residence permit and does not make you a dependent. Family residence permits are a separate NPRA process and are not covered here.
NPRA lists the legal basis as Ministerial Resolution No. (142) of 2019, Item 65 of Schedule (B).
Which Family Route Applies to You?
NPRA has more than one family-related service. Pick the one that matches your relationship to the host.
| Route | Who it is for | Fee | Processing |
| Visit eVisa for a family visit | Visitors who have relatives in Bahrain | BD 39 | 3-5 working days |
| Visa for relatives of a Bahraini | Father, mother, husband or children of a Bahraini citizen | BD 39 | 5 working days |
| Visa for the wife of a Bahraini and a Bahraini’s foreign children | Wife and children of a Bahraini (non-objection certificate) | Not shown in the fee list reviewed | 5 working days |
| Certificate of non-objection for a visit visa | Visitors who have relatives in Bahrain, for a renewable month | BD 34 | 5 working days |
Who Can Sponsor a Family Visit Visa?
NPRA’s service page says the standard family visit eVisa is for visitors who have relatives in Bahrain. It does not state which relationships qualify, whether the host must be a citizen or a resident, or any minimum sponsor salary. Do not assume parents, siblings or in-laws are accepted. The application form will show what the portal allows.
Relatives of a Bahraini citizen
A separate NPRA service issues visas to the father, mother, husband or children of a Bahraini. Only a Bahraini can apply (legal basis: Resolution No. (20) of 2022).
The conditions are:
- The applicant and the visitor must be of good conduct
- The visitor must hold valid health insurance in Bahrain for the whole stay
- The applicant must have a sufficient source of income to support both people
- The visitor must have a suitable place to stay
Required documents:
- Service request form
- The relative’s passport copy, valid for more than 6 months
- The sponsor’s ID card copy
- The relative’s health insurance copy
- A certified birth certificate (for a father, mother, son or daughter) or a certified marriage certificate (for a husband), issued in Bahrain or abroad
- The applicant’s ID, or the ID of the authorised person who submits the application
Wife of a Bahraini and a Bahraini’s foreign children
NPRA handles these cases through a separate certificate of non-objection. The husband or legal representative must be present to carry out the service. Processing time is 5 working days. The documents differ for a non-Bahraini wife and for the children of a Bahraini wife:
- Non-Bahraini wife: application form, a copy of the husband’s ID card, the original marriage certificate and a copy, a copy of the applicant’s or legal representative’s ID, a copy of the wife’s passport, and an employer letter if the husband works in the military.
- Children of a Bahraini wife: application form, a copy of the child’s passport, the foreign husband’s passport with a copy and a copy of his residence permit, the original marriage certificate and a copy, copies of both spouses’ passports, a copy of the birth certificate, and a copy of the applicant’s or legal representative’s ID. In case of divorce, the custody document issued by the Shari’a courts in Bahrain must be attached.
The fee for this service was not shown in the fee list reviewed. Check the payment screen.
Certificate of non-objection for a visit visa
NPRA describes this certificate as a visa for visitors who have relatives in Bahrain, for a renewable month. It is a separate service from the standard family visit eVisa, and the official page does not explain how the two differ or who qualifies for which. Required documents:
- Service application form
- The visitor’s original passport
- A copy of a valid commercial registration
- A copy of the applicant’s ID or the legal representative’s ID
The fee is BD 34 and processing takes 5 working days. Its extension (BD 30, 1 working day) accepts either the commercial register or, for a personal guarantee, a copy of the guarantor’s ID, which suggests individual guarantors are possible. Confirm with NPRA before relying on this route.
Bahrain Family Visit Visa Requirements and Documents

For the standard family visit eVisa, NPRA lists these documents:
| Document | Notes |
| Passport copy | The family visit page states no validity period. Some other NPRA routes (relatives of a Bahraini, residence and Golden Residency services) ask for more than 6 months, so treat six months as a safe minimum. |
| Hotel reservation | Listed on the official page. |
| Return ticket | Listed on the official page. |
| Proof of kinship | Official documents such as a birth or marriage certificate. |
| Three-month bank statement | Must be in English. Income threshold explained below. |
NPRA does not say whether certificates for the standard family visit eVisa need attestation or translation. Check this in the application before you gather originals.
Sponsor Salary and Income Requirement
What NPRA does state is a bank statement test. The statement must cover three months and show a minimum regular income of BD 300-500 per month (regular salary or pension), or an amount equivalent to BD 150 for each day of the visit. NPRA does not say which figure in the 300-500 range applies. For illustration only, a 14-day stay at BD 150 per day would work out to BD 2,100 (our arithmetic, not an NPRA figure). The page does not say whether the statement belongs to the visitor or the host, so confirm this in the application.
For the Bahraini-relative route, NPRA requires only “sufficient income” and gives no figure.
Bahrain Family Visit Visa Fees
The family visit visa price is set by NPRA. The service page lists no additional charges, but check the payment screen before you pay.
| Service | Official fee | Processing |
| Visit eVisa for a family visit | BD 39 | 3-5 working days |
| Extension of a family visit eVisa (one month, renewable) | BD 30 | 1 working day |
| Visa for relatives of a Bahraini | BD 39 total: BD 5 endorsement + BD 30 issuing + BD 4 non-refundable application fee | 5 working days |
| Certificate of non-objection for a visit visa | BD 34 | 5 working days |
| Extension of a non-objection certificate for a visit visa | BD 30 | 1 working day |
Fees are listed per visa type, not per nationality, so Pakistani and Bangladeshi applicants pay the same as everyone else. Convert BD to your local currency at the day’s rate. Card or foreign-exchange charges depend on your bank.
How to Apply for a Family Visit Visa in Bahrain
- Confirm your route: Use the standard family visit eVisa unless the host is a Bahraini citizen and the visitor is a father, mother, husband or child. Wives and foreign children of a Bahraini use the separate non-objection certificate service.
- Prepare the documents: listed above, with the bank statement in English.
- Apply online: NPRA describes the family visit eVisa as an online application, and it appears in the Bahrain.bh “Visa Requests” eService. On the official eVisa portal at evisa.gov.bh, the “Visa Selection Criteria” page asks you to answer a few questions to find the visas you are eligible for:
- whether you hold a valid residence permit or visit visa for a GCC country (yes or no)
- purpose of your visit: choose General Visit
- detailed purpose: choose Family Visit (the other options are Tourism, Business Meeting and Other)
- nationality as shown in your passport

- Use official government channels only. The portal lists evisa@npra.gov.bh and an FAQ page for questions. For portal screens, see our Bahrain eVisa application guide.
- Pay the fee: NPRA then reviews your documents and conditions, issues a receipt and completes its checks.
- Wait for the decision: NPRA’s stated processing time is 3-5 working days (5 working days for the Bahraini-relative route). You can check your application status with your reference number.
- Travel: with a copy of the visa, your return ticket and your accommodation details.
Bahrain Family Visit Visa for Pakistani and Bangladeshi Citizens
Both Pakistan and Bangladesh appear on the official evisa.gov.bh list of eligible countries. When we ran the portal’s Visa Selection Criteria tool on 2 November 2026 with each nationality, “Family Visit” was available as a detailed purpose for both. The portal notes that terms and conditions apply, so run your own passport through the tool before preparing paperwork, because eligibility can change.
NPRA’s family visit pages contain no rules specific to Pakistani or Bangladeshi passport holders. The same documents and fee apply.
Visa Validity and Permitted Stay
The family visit eVisa is issued for one month, subject to renewal. NPRA’s extension page does not state an application deadline, so apply well before the visa ends. NPRA lists these extension documents:
- The visitor’s original passport
- The application form
- A copy of the sponsor company’s valid commercial registration, or the sponsor’s ID card if self-sponsored
- A copy of the applicant’s or authorised person’s ID
Processing time is 1 working day. NPRA’s pages do not state the maximum number of extensions, the total stay allowed, the validity window before entry, or whether the visa is single-entry. Confirm these in the application.
